Food donations are still being accepted at the Association Office. The donations will be dropped off at the Port Orchard Food Bank. Recently we were told that the food bank is helping to provide food for 80 to 90 families daily and running out of food each afternoon. |
UPDATE ON BEAR SIGHTING
We have had a couple more bear sightings in McCormick Woods. One on Troon Ave and one on Tenby Court and both were in backyards. We have called Department of Fish and Wildlife and they asked us to pass on some important information for prevention of the attraction of bears as well as a tip should you encounter a bear. Ø If you encounter a black bear, please don’t run. That is what their prey does. Stand tall, wave your arms. If you are able, make yourself taller by standing on something. Ø If a bear stands on his hind legs it is not a threatening move. They don’t see very well and will stand up to get a better look. Ø Bears can smell from 2 miles away. They can smell your bird food, pet food, BBQ and garbage cans. To avoid attracting the bear, please do the following: o Put away birdfeeders and bird food; o Put away dog & cat food; o If you cannot store your garbage cans in your garage, then pour some bleach directly into your can and spray the outside of the can with bleach water; o Spray your BBQ with bleach & remember to remove the drip pan and put away inside. Ø If you need to report an encounter, please call (360) 902-2936 (direct encounter line). Ø If you need to report an encounter after hours, weekends, or holidays, please call 911 or the State Patrol. |
Backflow/Cross Connection Control Testing
| As many of you are aware, the City of Port Orchard is requiring cross connection control testing. This is a necessary reporting and testing of the backflow devices within the City's water system. This requires all municipal water system(s) customers with potential backflow or cross connections to install a backflow prevention assembly which is tested by a state certified backflow assembly tester on a yearly basis. Some examples would be a typical in-ground residential landscape sprinkler, hot tub, or in-home fire sprinkler systems. For more information, you can call the City @ (360) 876-4991. S. Varick Maintenance, the Association's landscaper, will be scheduling the backflow tests for the common areas. We are making a list of homeowners who would like their testing scheduled at the same time the Association does the common areas. Sometimes when large groups schedule the tests to be performed at the same time, there is a discount offered. If you would like to be added to this list, please contact us at edie@mccormickwoods.com or hoa@mccormickwoods.com, or call (360) 895-3800. You may also stop in the office anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and we can add you to the list. Keep in mind ,you will be responsible for the cost of the testing of your system. Thank you, Association Management |
